CFP®, CEO & CO FOUNDER
I started Fortune Financial Group (FFG) the day after my wife, Soni and I moved to Glen Ellyn from Lincoln Park, Chicago in November 1996. I grew up in Arlington Heights and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1986 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. Soon after college I decided I wanted to go into the financial planning profession. I earned my Certified Financial Planner designation in 1990. After working with a family owned financial services business for six years I decided to venture out and create FFG. I was inspired to create a truly “independent” firm that helps people figure out what they want to do with the one life God gave them. I think my clients like me in part because of my balanced approached to financial and life planning. They stay with me because we develops a relationship that is not product driven, but rather personal and life planning centric. My motto “Plan for tomorrow, while still living for today” is especially appealing to clients. I’ve been a contributor to my field in many ways. I’ve contributed articles and been a resource to many publications over the years. I blog and post Youtube videos as a means to educate my client’s and the public. I penned my first book, “Brad Rosley on Educated Investing” published in 2001. I’m also a former President and Chairman of the Board the Financial Planning Association of Illinois (FPA®). When I not doing work related activities, you can find me golfing, fishing or playing lunch time basketball. I have a wonderful wife and three teenagers that keep my busy.

I, “Cris” Kalivas have been in the financial industry since 1987. I started out in the municipal bond business when the 10-year Treasury bond was hovering around 9% and completed my last trade when the 10-year was 2.17. I traded everything in between with all the ups and downs. In the muni bond world I traded, underwrote new issues and participated in investment banking and loved every minute of it. I was the Head National Underwriter bidding on national syndicates underwriting hundred’s of millions of debt for municipalities across the country with three phones at a time and 20 salespeople trying to file their orders with me. While underwriting I noticed a large population of friends, family, neighbors and acquaintances that appeared lost at the slightest mention of financial terms. My desire to bring financial literacy to everyone was birthed. I founded the Glen Ellyn Women’s Investment Club (much like the famous Beardstown Ladies but, legit) and now I speak frequently to groups on day to day financial issues such as budgeting, stocks and college savings. I speak regularly to large military groups teaching on retirement, money management and empowering our servicemen and women to believe they can understand and manage their own finances. I hold a BA in Public Administration from Drake University, hold the professional designation of a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP) and am a member of the Financial Planners Association of Illinois. I have lived in the town of Glen Ellyn, IL, nearly my whole life and I married my high school sweetheart, Nick. We have four awesome kids, Peter, Gus, Sophie and Lily and they are my greatest accomplishment.
